About Camp Kennedy
Established in 1968, Camp Kennedy is a Christian-led campsite located on the picturesque coastline of Torbay, approximately 25 kilometres west of Albany on Western Australia’s South Coast. Nestled amongst coastal peppermint trees and positioned just off Perkins Beach, the campsite provides accommodation, camping facilities, a dining hall, commercial kitchen, and a variety of spaces designed for fellowship, ministry, and recreation.
For more than five decades, Camp Kennedy has served churches, schools, youth groups, families and community organisations from across Western Australia. Throughout its history, the campsite has provided a place where people can step away from the busyness of everyday life, deepen their faith, and experience rich Christian community in a unique coastal setting.
Surrounded by native bushland and overlooking the stunning South Coast, the campsite offers a peaceful environment that encourages spiritual growth, meaningful connection and renewal. Whether participating in a youth camp, church retreat, school camp, family gathering or ministry event, guests are continually reminded of God’s presence through both creation and community.
Camp Kennedy’s beachfront location provides opportunities that few Christian campsites can offer. From coastal walks and outdoor activities to shared meals, worship gatherings and times of quiet reflection, the site creates memorable experiences that leave a lasting impact on those who visit.
Today, Camp Kennedy continues to be recognised as one of Western Australia’s most treasured Christian camping facilities. About the Area
Camp Kennedy is located in Torbay, just 20 minutes west of the major Great Southern town of Albany on Western Australia’s beautiful South Coast. As the largest regional centre in the Great Southern, Albany serves as the region’s commercial, educational and medical hub, offering a wide range of amenities including quality schools, healthcare services, shopping centres, cafés, restaurants, sporting facilities and community organisations. Albany is home to a strong and active Baptist community, with several local Christian churches contributing to the spiritual life of the region. Some of these include Albany Baptist Church, Church of Christ Albany and Oceans Church located in Albany, and Denmark Baptist Church located in nearby Denmark.
The region is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and outdoor lifestyle, with iconic attractions such as Middleton Beach, The Gap, Natural Bridge, and the nearby Porongurup and Stirling Ranges. Camp Kennedy’s coastal location provides a peaceful and secluded setting while remaining within easy reach of the services, facilities and opportunities available throughout Albany and the wider Great Southern region.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITY
Camp Kennedy is seeking a passionate and capable Grounds Caretaker to help steward this unique Christian campsite. This role combines practical maintenance, hospitality and ministry. The Caretaker will help ensure that the site remains safe, welcoming and prepared to serve its guests. This role includes duties such as:
Grounds Facilities and Maintenance
- Maintain lawns, gardens and grounds; includes general landscaping, reticulation, and vegetation management, and basic building maintenance
- Monitor and report maintenance issues
- Ensure facilities remain clean and presentable
Camp Operations and Hospitality
- Prepare facilities for incoming groups
- Prepare and serve breakfast meals for camp groups/guests
- Monitor campsite infrastructure
- Ensure facilities remain operational and safe
Mission and Ministry
- Welcome guests and camp groups
- Cultivate meaningful relationships within the Christian community and demonstrate a Christ-like witness to all who visit Camp Kennedy
- Foster a positive Christian atmosphere
- Assist visitors where practical
- Represent Camp Kennedy in a professional and Godly manner
Administration
- Communicate and coordinate maintenance requirements
- Assist management with operational matters

Camp Kennedy has developed over many years to provide a flexible and functional environment capable of hosting a wide variety of groups and activities. The campsite includes the following amenities that require consistent upkeep:
Accomodation Facilities
Accommodation options suitable for camps, retreats and group bookings. Accommodation types include:
- Unpowered and powered caravan/campervan sites
- Cabins/Dormitories
Dining and Kitchen Facilities
A central dining area and commercial-style kitchen that allows large groups to gather together for meals and fellowship.
Bathroom and Amenities Facilities
Well-maintained bathroom and ablution facilities, including toilets, showers and accessible amenities, servicing both accommodation guests and campsite users.
Hall
A hall that allows for worship, service, and gathering purposes.
Activity Areas
Open grassed spaces and recreational areas suitable for group activities, games, and outdoor programs.
Beachfront Access
Direct access to Perkins Beach provides opportunities for swimming, beach activities, exploration and appreciation of the spectacular South Coast environment.
Natural Environment
The campsite is surrounded by coastal bushland and mature peppermint trees, creating a peaceful atmosphere that enhances the camp experience and provides natural shade throughout the site.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This position is full-time based on a standard of 38-hr week. Understandably, the nature of the role will include some flexibility around availability to work (i.e. weekend work), however this will be balanced throughout the week where necessary. Our remuneration package includes a salary, as well as accommodation and amenities provided.
