PURPOSE:
The role of the Kids & Young Families Pastor is to provide leadership, development, direction and discipleship for children and young families at Sonlife Church.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide vision, strategy, leadership, training and development for all children at Sonlife Church.
- Establish a long-term strategy for how Sonlife Church engages children.
- Oversee the Sunday children’s program, holiday program, children camp etc…
- Implement a holistic family discipleship strategy for the children and young families.
- Review, purchase and oversee the implementation of all curriculums for our Children Ministry (0-12 years old).
- Recruit, train and multiply volunteer leaders for the Children Ministry.
- Provide pastoral care, meetings, and other ministry opportunities for the discipleship of children and young families.
- Reach out to the unchurched children in the community, engage them with the gospel, involve them into the life of Sonlife Church.
- Meets regularly with the Senior Pastor to discuss ministry strategy and effectiveness.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES, SPIRITUAL GIFTS:
- Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude and behaviour.
- A passion for the discipleship of children and young families. To see them grow in their faith together.
- Experience in recruiting, motivating, equipping and scheduling volunteer leaders to minister to children at the Sunday services.
- Experience in designing and developing appropriate children ministry programs.
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
- Demonstrated ability to understand and relate to children and their families and a passion to see families grow in their faith together.
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to the Senior Pastor.
- Supervises and directs all leaders and volunteers within the Children Ministry.
- Discipleship for the young families Sonlife Church.
- Receives consistent leadership training from the Senior Pastor.
- Works closely with all areas of ministries within Sonlife Church.
OTHERS:
- Assist the Senior Pastor in leading the mission of Sonlife Church.
- Serve on the Preaching Team at Sonlife Church for the adult services as required (2-3 times per year).
- Maintains a continued growth of personal calling and walk with Jesus through study and prayer.
- Maintains personal priorities with home and family as the spiritual leader.
- Any other responsibilities as directed by the Senior Pastor (funerals, counselling, welcome lunches, leadership nights, etc…)
- After the initial 3-month probationary period the role continues.
- A current Working with Children’s Check and National Police Clearance will be required.
