The Day Manager role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Op Shop on allocated days. Working as part of a job share arrangement, each manager will ensure smooth sales operations, effective volunteer coordination, excellent customer service, and compliance with organisational standards. Together, the job share team will maintain continuity across the week and contribute to the store’s profitability and community impact.

Standard open hours: Monday – closed, Tuesday 9 am – 4:30 pm, Wednesday 9 am – 4:30 pm, Thursday 9 am – 4:30 pm, Friday 9 am – 4:30 pm, Saturday 9 am – 2:30 pm
Likely Job Share Roster:
DM1 – Tuesday 7.5hrs, Wednesday 7.5hrs, Thursday 3hrs (9am – 12pm) – Total 18hrs
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Daily Store Management
· Open and close the store according to procedures.
· Ensure daily takings are accurately counted and reconciled with Point-of-Sale (POS) End-of-Day ( EOD) till closure.
· Maintain high standards of store cleanliness, organisation, and merchandising.
· Oversee donation intake, sorting, pricing, and stock rotation.
· Ensure the store is safe, tidy, and inviting for customers and donors.
2. Volunteer & Team Leadership
· Supervise and support volunteers during allocated shifts.
· Allocate and monitor daily tasks to ensure smooth workflow.
· Provide training and induction for new volunteers.
· Foster a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
3. Customer Service
· Provide friendly, professional, and helpful service to customers.
· Respond to queries and resolve concerns promptly.
· Promote sales, events, and organisational initiatives.
4. Health, Safety & Compliance
· Ensure compliance with WHS regulations.
· Report hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues.
· Oversee safe manual handling practices, particularly in the furniture store.
· Maintain security of cash, stock, and premises.
5. Communication & Continuity
· Maintain accurate handover notes between job share partners to ensure smooth operations.
· Report to the CEO on store performance, EOD anomalies, issues, and opportunities.
· Attend periodic team meetings.

Experience & Requirements
· Retail, second-hand goods, or warehouse management experience is desirable.
· Experience supervising staff or volunteers.
· Basic computer skills (POS, email, spreadsheets).
